(Copy of Heath's post on Facebook.) Hey everyone, I'm sorry to inform you guys that Jessica and myself will not be able to stay as leads for bringing Aldeon back. Neither of us feel like we are in a place where we can give the game the attention that it both deserves and requires.
If anyone else would like to take up the reigns then feel free to mull it over and weigh the options. We'd like to thank the sizable community that we've cultivated over the last few years for the time and effort that you all have put into the game. We'd also like to particularly thank everyone who has participated on plot over the life of the game.
We have plans for shutting down the game, but if there are any questions or concerns please feel free to voice them here.

The majority of these are rules I've heard others say need to be looked at. The change I'd personally like to see most is the Non-Plot Roles in the attached document. Some of them we technically already do, I'd like them to be added to the book or at least in their own publicly-accessible document. And of course feel free to suggest any additional roles that I don't have listed.
Food Harvesting: There’s currently no specification on what sources Forester and Hunter can gather food from. The original idea was to make Forester only able to harvest food from plants and Hunter only harvest from animals, but Oceanology makes that slightly awkward. Solution Ideas: Go with the original plan of plants for Forester and animals for Hunter, with the explanation for Oceanology that there are edible plants in the ocean such as kelp or they can harvest plants that grow on the seashore. Alternatively, we could leave off any limit as to what these two trade skills can harvest food from, mainly because while Forester has much to do with plants it also has skills involving animals too (though for Hunter harvesting plants wouldn’t make much sense, unless we make it be similar to the harvest of "special Components" which by the book can be done by Forester and Herbalist).
Spirit Form/Water Form: As it reads right now, someone in Spirit Form can only be affected by a Dispel or Suppression. Exorcise does state in its description that it can remove a Spirit Form, but there’s no mention of this in Spirit Form’s own description. Water Form is worded similarly, with Evaporate seeming to be the only spell that can affect it. Gaseous Form actually lists what spells can affect it in its description, while Stone Skin is vulnerable to all spells. Solution Ideas: All form spells could be given only a specific set of spells and/or paths which affect them, as is already the case with Gaseous Form. Doing this would not only nerf Spirit Form and Water Form, but at the same time give a small buff to Stone Skin. Regardless of what solution we choose, Exorcism definitely needs to be mentioned in Spirit Form’s description (so long as we do keep it as a way to break a Spirit Form).
Battle Rage & Blood Rage: Either specify that they can be used from -1 body or ensure it is run by the book where they must be conscious to use them.
Foci Arrows/Bow: There’s nothing saying whether to cast spells through a bow requires the bow or the arrows to have foci on them. I believe it’s been run as the arrows in the past.
Rewrites: During a pre-reg we agreed on the following temporary changes: 1. You do not keep your character deaths if you rewrite into a completely different character (changing their name, race, class, etc). 2. You do keep your character deaths if you rewrite as the same character with changed stats. 3. A rewrite can be used after a resurrection pick is failed to retain full character points, but unlike when a rewrite is used normally the possessions of the previous character must be handed over to plot. (I’m primarily bringing this up in case we want to change it any, or simply add it to the book to make it official.)
Breaking Down Equipment: I remember us discovering during one of the games that apparently we have no written rules for breaking down equipment into components. Solution Ideas: (Heath:) There was an errata idea that I wrote up but did not propose adding a function to Weapon Smith and Armor Smith that allowed equipment to be broken down and return 75% of the materials used to compose the item. The other craftsman skills wouldn’t be able to be broken down into its component parts again. You could allow Hunters, Miners, and Woodworkers to recover hides, ores, and woods from armor and weapons and Jewelers to recover ore from jewelry (this could alternatively be done by an Armor Smith). (Jon:) I believe that it should be a Smith skill only. Simply because the Tradesman skills thematically are for collecting raw resources not reclaiming refined resources. Jewelers though makes sense that they could reclaim gems/75% of the cost to make.

A transcription of the conversation had in the Ilyingrad tavern on this night: “I must say that these strange bunch we have around here at Ilyingrad are stirring up too much trouble my friends. It’s getting to be that time of the month again when we have one day that they all go wild about the barony. I tell you something’s wrong with them.” Exclaimed the bar keep, as he poured a few more rounds, shooting a glance toward the various sympathizers to the foreigners. “Take for instance when that hoity elf Eru somethin’ or rather, took our token Sauran, that derned fuzzy Connar, and the masked girl that’s been hanging about, all to patrol the forest one morning. The handful of them thought they would take on a bandit patrol by themselves, and got what was coming to them. These bandits aren’t stupid mind you, as they always sent out some of their best fighters as their scouts along the roads. They even sundered that Sauran, Bjernsen’s, great sword! Have you seen how big that guy is?! And still they were gotten the better of and ran back to town licking their wounds. Hah, bunch of rambunctious adventurers I say, should have picked up a trade instead!” The farmers round the tavern gave approving grunts to their skill in the fields, before taking another swig. A voice from the tables declared, “It’s strange though, we haven’t had any problems from them northern Bandits for some time though, as that same day we all heard those green skins charging through the fields, not attack us, and set up quite the commotion in the North but haven’t bothered us since.” Some snickers come from those listening as if they didn’t have to ponder why those bandits won’t be bothering us for a while. One of the farmers who witnessed the horde roll through the fields said, “I could have sworn some of those green skins weren’t exactly green though.” “I’m almost certain you are right.” Huffed the barkeep. “Apparently we do have some new bullywugs, ‘round about though. According to Asherah, and her no name fella’, these ones aren’t related to our local king. They just want to smash up the place apparently, just like my brother.” Squeaked a young child. “At least I finally have a deal with someone for my Tinkle Tinctures, with Fabio and his crew.” the Survivorman, on one of his rare visit in town, laughed at his own brilliance. “He and those other strange persons are stimulating the economy I say.” “You sir are equally strange.” Said the barkeep as he passed him a brew. “Connar sure stimulated our economies before he left us.” Giggled a few of the barmaids through the tavern. A few of them men spat on the floor at that comment. “If that Satyr hadn’t left of his own free will, I’m sure the Zestav would have found something else to convict him of in no time.” The barkeep said. Shouts rose after those comments, and heavy bootsteps headed out the door, “Both of his heads should have rolled, we all know that miner was innocent!” “Sure as the Masters are deaf, he was probably right about that.” The barkeep sighed. “Atleast we have a new team to start protecting us miners more. Granted it’s only the weird green Leaf guy that nobody can talk to, our guardsman Pavlov, and that elf… Eruainon! That’s what he said his name was. Still… not much of a team to face all those things that come from the underground…” remarked an ever so slightly buzzed miner. A disgruntled dock worker shouted from the back, “Why are you worried about the underground when we are almost to the raiding season?! The first of the Sauran boats has already come and robbed us, specifically a poor little fellow, and then run off without a scratch on them. Asherah at the very least thought to steal their boat, but they stole one of ours in return! That Fabio and his Peacock friend just huddled together in fear, while those other so called adventurers ran scared, how will we protect ourselves this summer!?” “Hang the raiders, our own town guard must be more corrupt than usual even. I heard them talking about how one of their number was driven mad when this stranger he was meeting with died, more like turned to ash when they unmasked him. Our own Zestav can’t protect themselves, let alone us poor folk. Those adventurers that you keep talking bad about are the only answered prayer to have been bestowed upon us.” Countered another patron With a huff the barkeep concurred, “You may just be right sir… They have proven themselves on occasion. Why, Brondo that hunter, took Connar, that wee masked girl, and errr… Eruainon and killed an Owlbear by the look of the pelt they drug back here.” The dock worker piped up again, “Asherah, along with Non, Fabio, and Mr. Peacock even drove off an evil water spirit that attacked their newly acquired ship, I saw it just off the horizon through my spyglass. They have to be blessed by the Masters I tell you to face such creatures day in and day out for us.” “Indeed, they even brought my prize bull to heel after he was stung by all these derned bugs flying about thanks to that Grand Heating that’s going on. Though they did have to use magic, haha, silly things could have just asked for my lassoes.” Remarked another farmer. “There is that tiny green skin that has been wandering about with them too.” Another patron interjected, “Not very strong but useful and friendly as can be I tell yah. Why he was telling me the other day how he met a chicken that could transform into a human, and his musical companion. Poor creature does get bullied a bit too much though, if you ask me.” “We are gonna need all of ‘em, before we know it.” Said a merchant rising to his feet. “They are always risking themselves to protect your sorry hides. A number went out on patrol, and the high elf, and one of the younger fighters, got captured by Dark Elves that ambushed them on the road. Connar was the only one that could track his friends down, while the hunter Brondo got a whole ‘nother group to rescue them. Apparently that bat changeling Nethylis, was able to get some quick spells off to free the two prisoners, but he himself got captured and left for dead in the woods by those blasted dark elves.” He took a final swig, “If any ten of you had an ounce of the courage inside one of em, I’d be shocked. In all my travels, not a single person would be willing to help you bumpkins up here in Nowhere Ratoss, not even your own Baron. Yet these ragtag adventurers fight and die to protect what semblance of a life you all have here. I’ll be glad to rid myself of you ungrateful lot come morning, and travel the safe roads they have made!” slamming his mug down the merchant headed up to his room. “Last call!” Yelled the barkeep, though it was really too early to close up for a usual evening. “Head home to your families, get rested. There will be plenty of work, and brew for you tomorrow.” Under his breath he murmured with hope, “Maybe those adventurers can ensure we can always have a tomorrow to wake up to…”

Early in the morning, a group of adventurers went to the forest to check with the bullywug population. Upon entering the cave they encountered a goblin running in terror. Before they could attack it, the goblin spoke to them and claimed to be peaceful. Upon further investigation of the cave, the party found that the bullywugs’ eggs had mutated into a massive glob and was holding the “king” captive. The party was able to slay the beast by separating the eggs from each other and they were returned to the breeding pool.
The walrus changeling and a rag tag group of citizens investigated the sounds coming from the dungeon. When they entered, they were attacked by a swarm of giant cockroaches that had been living in the walls.
In the mess hall, the renowned brawler Dima and his brother Anton were challenging citizens to brawling matches. A new adventurer, a paladin, fought the great brawler and the two were able to knock each other unconscious.
There was a scuffle between the Kapustin and Mantorov families over who shall take who’s name in the wedding of the Mantorovs’ son, Rostislav, to the Kapustin family’s daughter, Yuliya. After the tension escalated, the families were forced to settle things the old way and a wedding brawl commenced. The fight ended as a victory for the Kapustin family and the groom shall take their name.
On the shoreline, a party encountered a statue sitting in the water. As they got closer, the statue moved, revealing itself to be a gargoyle of sorts. The party distracted it while their Sauran ally used his faith powers to destroy it.
A strange man in the farmlands was asking farmers to donate animal urine to him to purify it into drinkable water.

The day began with the execution of Zaardon the Soul Reaper, the necromancer who summoned the pumpkin-headed skeleton that attacked the town last month. However, shortly after Sir Wladamir Sewick sent for the prisoner, a group of bandits launched a surprise attack. After the bandits were defeated, the guard who was supposed to bring the prisoner out to be executed along with the other guards who were at his empty cell were found lying on the ground paralyzed by pain. Sir Wladamir announced a bounty for Zaardon of 5 silver.
The protesters who were complaining about what they had dubbed the “Grand Heating” have finally been silenced. They are now content to simply encourage anyone they speak with to share any information they may have on the “demon gates” with the high elven monk and his two friends.
After lunch, panic arose when a man ran into town to warn everyone that Saurans were sailing in on their long ships. To everyone’s relief, those aboard the ships were merely merchants of House Solberg looking to exchange goods and accept trade missions. They were particularly pleased to purchase rum from one of the local pirates. A couple of local Saurans also tried to negotiate a trade for their swords which they claimed to be magical with the ability to speak, but they were turned away when the swords remained silent.
Many encounters were had throughout the day with the frog-like humanoids called bullywugs and their king, most of which being on friendly terms despite the language barrier. There is now one bullywug within the holding that speaks Ratossan.
An Artheran warrior and her companion teamed up with a vampire-bat changeling to take on a lone demon which was massacring a farmer’s herds. They were successful in putting a stop to the creature’s rampage and taking it down.
Fabio and his dancing pirate crew joined forces with the two pirates whose ship they crashed into last month and their friends to take on multiple issues in the area. They came to the aid of the farmer whose compost pile was attacking his animals, found that the compost seemed to be possessing some of the animals and cured them. They cleared out another orc patrol as well as the kobolds who had the missing iron shipment. The crabmen who have taken residence near the docks were handled without any bloodshed (at least by the adventurers), thanks to Asherah and Non E Nome being able to speak to them.

In the morning, two dark elves were tried for treason and given a trial by combat, to let their gods decide their innocence. With a quick exchange of blows they were both slain by Sir Wladamir Sewick. Immediately following the executions, a great crashing sound was heard coming from the shoreline. All those in the crowd that left the holding to investigate were greeted by the sight of two ships colliding. One ship was pushed onto the beach, while the other promptly began to sink into the water. A few in the crowd who weren’t afraid of getting wet swam out to the sinking ship, while the rest searched the wreckage on the beach. Two strange humanoid beings, one covered in scales and the other with snow-white skin, were found in the sinking ship. On the other ship, there was a man who only spoke Sauran, along with his companion who was lying nearby in the sand unconscious. All of the survivors have fully recovered from any injuries they sustained in the crash.
During lunch, a warrior by the name of Elenor encountered a bizarre phenomenon when she was tossing some refuse into a trash heap. A swirling cluster of trash rose up and enveloped her. A number of adventurers who were close by noticed the trash-covered woman as she began to head for the holding’s gates. They chased her down and a helpful mage threw a spell to free her from whatever was possessing her. The trash came off of her and promptly fled the area. Sadly, the group was unable to pursue the creature. All citizens are warned to be cautious around any piles of trash in case the creature returns or there are more of its kind hiding within the town.
Shortly after lunch, a Sauran man was convicted of unprovoked battery on a child. It would seem that he performed a ritual sacrifice on her, but immediately healed her. As such, he wasn’t charged with murder and only received a beating until he fell unconscious. While this was happening, a skeleton with a pumpkin head galloped into town followed by a mage clapping his hands, seemingly to imitate a horse. The skeleton was killed and the necromancer was apprehended. He will be executed in the coming month.
Cries for help and shouted accusations of murder were heard coming from the Sauran camp. However, when guardsman Selerik arrived on the scene there was no one present. All that he was able to report was two of the camp’s tents appeared to have been placed into the campfire, their burnt remains left in the fire pit.
The changeling party went to the mines to investigate the giant insects. They found a rust monster that had opened an entrance to the underdark. The party slew the beast and a guard was stationed by the breach.
Fabio and his dancing pirate crew went to the northern forest and met with a party of bandits. The bandits demanded tribute and the crew did not pay enough, resulting in a bloody fight. Luckily the crew did survive. Later in the day, a party led by a noble high elf tracked these bandits down and decimated the remainder of the patrol. They later tracked down the camp and relayed the location to the guards.
The noble high elf and his faerie compatriot encountered a party of goblins in the forest. After a drawn out, silly fight, the goblins were mostly slain with the rest fleeing. Later in the day, a group of adventurers found a farmer complaining about his neighbor’s rooster. After a short conversation, one of the party members offered to pay for the bird to take the burden off of them both.
As night began to fall, a noble of the barony of Pokrov, the barony to the north, entered the holding and demanded to see Sir Wladamir. When he came out, the noble demanded a ten gold tribute or else suffer the threat of war. With reluctance, Wladamir accepted the terms and the man left, gold in hand.

I've now made the poll for the stamina table replacements. I know the suggestions in this thread and my Innate Special Attacks/Defenses idea probably haven't been discussed enough, but we don't want to risk prolonging the release of the new version of the book too much. http://aldeon.createaforum.com/2016-errata-votes/replacing-the-stamina-table/

Heath is right, I left it open to being ran either way. Hmm, I didn't think about High Magic Enchanting. I'll go ahead and edit the proposal to specify the prerequisite of Skill +1/Backstab +2/Strength +1 for ease and overall better mechanics balance. Also, I've made the poll for the stamina table replacements. I know this and the other replacement ideas probably haven't been discussed enough, but we don't want to risk prolonging the release of the new version of the book too much. http://aldeon.createaforum.com/2016-errata-votes/replacing-the-stamina-table/

I had an another idea for a stamina table replacement based on some of what I heard people brainstorming during errata. Heath and Aaron helped me to flesh this out.
The concept is each weapon type is granted a free use of a specific special attack or defense once per day. This is limited to only those attacks/defenses with Skill +1 as their prereqresite. The character would need to have at least Skill +1/Backstab +2/Strength +1 before having access to this ability.
Here's what we've come up with so far for the types and what attacks/defenses they get: Small Bladed- Feint Small Blunt- Waylay Short Bladed- Pierce Short Blunt- Deaden Long Bladed- Critical Strike Long Blunt- Deflect Two-Handed Bladed- Disarm Two-Handed Blunt- Trip Great Bladed- Break Weapon Great Blunt- Break Weapon Bow- Critical Strike Crossbow- Pierce Brawl- Capture Weapon Sling- Deaden Atl-atl- Critical Strike
I know Waylay is a stealth skill rather than a special attack, but we thought it'd be more fitting than any of the special attacks we had to work with. However since it is one of the big tricks for rogues, we could limit its use exclusively to those with Backstabs.
Also, if you guys like this idea Heath thought it might be good to combine it with Zach's suggestion for headed weapons doing more damage.

At errata we all agreed that naturals are under powered compared to magicals. A discussion was held on the 2016 Errata Discussion board to propose possible ways to make Natural Effects stronger. Which of these suggestions should be implemented in the book?
